Have you updated to iOS7 on your iPhone yet? if you’re like me you couldn’t wait to see what all the hub bub was about. The iOS 7 user interface was completely redesigned. at first I thought my eyes were going to burn because its so bright. Personally I was hoping for something more like Star Trek. Isn’t that the great and wonderful future we have dreamed about for so long? instead we get…. Helvetica. Don’t get me wrong. If I were a graphic artist I might just be all over this. Visually it looks like it was designed by graphic artists for graphic artists.
Theres are some cool new features though, for instance I like the new Lock screen options that are quickly available. Being able to quickly adjust the brightness now makes a big difference to me. love that all my connection settings and alarm are easily available. I use the calculator a lot so this is a big plus to me. The fact that a Flash light option is there is pretty cool too.
If you’re a big fan of Pandora I suggest giving iTunes Radio a try. I’m already impressed with how many stations in Genre’s I like are here. I have been a long time fan of Surf Instrumentals and found some good stations geared toward both Classic and Modern surf music.
Something I’d like to see in the future is a way that comic creators like myself can publish their comics without having to go through an aggregator app. Amazon now has software available for creators to publish on the Kindle and takes a ton of headache out of dealing with middlemen or learning how to program for those devices. If Adobe were smart they’d build comic publishing for smart phones and devices into their software.
My biggest gripe I had with iOS7 is the major Battery Drain I had after installing it. my phone was burning hot to the touch and the battery drained at incredible speeds. after doing some research I found that Disabling Background App Refresh took care of this problem right away. goto Settings>General>Background App Refresh to disable this. I can’t believe Apple would make this option, as well have it automatically enabled. I don’t think they really researched this option and need to take a closer look at it as well notify customers. If you’re my parents you won’t know what’s wrong or look for a solution to this.
I’m sure there is a lot of stuff I haven’t gone over having to do with this update. Overall I give the iOs 7 update a 3 out of 5.
